Heat treatment

Heat treatment is a non chemical treatment used for wood and wood packaging material in order to kill pests and pathogens that may reside in the wood. Therefore, this reduces the risk of introduction and spread of quarantine pests associated with the movement in international trade of wood packaging material made from raw wood. Heat treatment is done as per ISPM 15 guidelines (Regulation of wood packaging material in international trade) of the International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM).
