Passengers travelling to Mauritius

Mauritius is relatively free from exotic pests and diseases. It is therefore of utmost importance for the government to prevent the entry of pests, diseases and any harmful organisms through international travellers who may accidentally bring them in through their luggages or bring in goods as accompanied luggage.

To help protect our agricultural economy, the unique environment and the health of all Mauritians, the NPPO in collaboration with Officers of MRA assess all incoming air and sea travellers and screen baggage using X-ray machines and physical inspection.

Importation of plant and products thereof, micro-organisms, soil and products containing soil are subject to phytosanitary control.

As a precautionary measure, make sure not to carry any fresh fruits or vegetables, plants, seeds, wooden articles, meat and meat products. You are advised to dispose of any risk agricultural goods in the quarantine bins at the arrival lounge of the SSR International Airport or passenger lounge at the Port Louis harbour.
