The following articles described hereunder are regulated articles requiring a Plant Import Permit at importation.

Seeds (flower seeds, fruit seeds, vegetable seeds, edible seeds, seeds for production of fodder)

Pulses / Spices / Herbs / Nuts
Planting medium / biofertilisers / Microbial cultures
Agricultural machinery
Timber
Wood and wooden articles (wooden furniture, wooden handicrafts etc.)
Bamboo / rattan articles
Cereals for processing (maize, oats)

Tea and plant based infusions
Coconut and coconut products

List of prohibited articles

The articles mentioned hereunder have been categorized as prohibited articles and are not authorized for importation.

Plants belonging to the families gramineae, musaceae, araceae
Soil, manure and compost
Fatak brooms
Grass seeds / Wheat seeds
Banana species (including fresh fruits and planting material)
Fresh ginger rhyzomes
Root vegetables

Importers are hereby informed that these articles if imported into Mauritius will be destroyed at importer’s own cost without any compensation.

The incineration fees is Rs 5 per Kg.
