List of regulated articles

The following articles described hereunder are regulated articles requiring a Plant Import Permit at importation.

  • Vegetables (Fresh, dried, semi cooked)

  • Baby vegetables, salads, aromatic herbs and vegetable sprouts

  • Fruits (Fresh, dried, processed)

  • Fresh cut flowers

  • Planting materials (cuttings, seedlings, plantlets, plants, bulbs, tissue culture, budwood, tubers)

  • Seeds (flower seeds, fruit seeds, vegetable seeds, edible seeds, seeds for production of fodder)

  • Animal Feed

  • Pulses / Spices / Herbs / Nuts

  • Planting medium / biofertilisers / Microbial cultures

  • Agricultural machinery

  • Timber

  • Wood and wooden articles (wooden furniture, wooden handicrafts etc.)

  • Bamboo / rattan articles

  • Cereals for processing (maize, oats)

  • Insects

  • Tea and plant based infusions

  • Coconut and coconut products

List of prohibited articles

The articles mentioned hereunder have been categorized as prohibited articles and are not authorized for importation.

  • Plants belonging to the families gramineae, musaceae, araceae

  • Soil, manure and compost

  • Fatak brooms

  • Grass seeds / Wheat seeds

  • Banana species (including fresh fruits and planting material)

  • Fresh ginger rhyzomes

  • Root vegetables

Importers are hereby informed that these articles if imported into Mauritius will be destroyed at importer’s own cost without any compensation.

The incineration fees is Rs 5 per Kg.
