Phytosanitary Capacity Evaluation (PCE)
Phytosanitary Capacity Evaluation (PCE) is being carried out in Mauritius with the support of the FAO under the project GCP/GLO/949/EU (“Strengthening food control and phytosanitary capacities and governance”).
The PCE is a fully comprehensive process for countries to evaluate their phytosanitary capacities through an interactive tool designed to conduct a situational analysis of the existing phytosanitary system, and to help the NPPO assess its progress over time in the implementation of the IPPC and the international standards on phytosanitary measures.
The PCE is a modular online software system consisting of 13 semi structured questionnaire type modules. It is carried out with face to face missions to Mauritius with the objectives to:
- complete modules,
- use management tools to assess weakness identified during the process and to develop a logical framework that can be used to develop and
- guide projects to overcome the weaknesses.
